“Before the massive BP Oil Spill threatened Louisiana’s coast, scientists had calculated that the state was losing a football field worth of marshland every 38 minutes. It had been predicted that within the decade the land loss would become irreversible.

Now, millions of gallons of oil are working their way through Louisiana’s fragile ecosystem, threatening the shrimp, wildlife, economy and way of life for an entire culture. Through interviews with experts, lawmakers and residents, Category Five takes an in-depth look at the factors threatening our coast, the economic and cultural impacts of this continued destruction, and the possible solutions that could save Louisiana.

The first season of Category Five/Wetlands Watch aired from June 2009 through November 2010. There are 10 episodes scheduled for production and with additional funding from the Pepsi Refresh Project, Category Five/Wetland Watch can continue to produce and air new episodes each month.”
