Rogue Green – Working to Help Make Phoenix a More Sustainable Place
I’ve been heavily involved in the sustainability industry for 10+ years. Prior to having my youngest daughter, I was very active on the national green conference circuit – either as a speaker or covering the events as press. Once my daughter was born and I couldn’t be traveling as much, I decided to start focusing my energy locally.
This has been an amazing shift for me, and one that ties into my company motto: “World change begins at home.” Just over the past few years I have watched our downtown community bloom with the help of many amazing placemakers and community leaders.
In August of 2009, I started a downtown Phoenix group called Rogue Green. It’s my love child for Phoenix and simply serves to educate + inspire our community on sustainability topics and issues. The events are typically held the 1st Thursday of every month.
Sometimes we do side projects, which end up spinning into bigger things… That’s what happened with the chalkboard project. I have been photo documenting the chalkboard since I put it up in May 2011, and have done a bunch of mobile chalkboard projects as well.
When you start asking the question “What do you want to see from downtown Phoenix in the next 5 years?” and then start giving those people the action plan – through education and inspiration – real CHANGE can occur!
