Editorial DirectorWith a strong background in design, manufacturing and business, Wendy Jedlička, CPP, is an IoPP Lifetime Certified Packaging Professional, and president of Jedlička Design Ltd. — a packaging design and strategic business and marketing consultancy specializing in sustainable design and supply chain management solutions. Working in first print and then packaging since the mid-1970s, and as a design and business strategy vendor since the mid-1990s, she has served clients from Fortune 100 giants to tiny three-person shops.
In addition to her design and strategic management work, Jedlička is a long-time, and vocal, advocate for sustainable design and business, writing regular sustainability focused feature articles for publications around the world, and was contributing editor for two of Wiley Publishing’s books on sustainable design, "Packaging Sustainability: Tools, Systems and Strategies for Innovative Package Design," and, "Sustainable Graphic Design: Tools, Systems and Strategies for Innovative Print Design." Both books are becoming required reading for many design programs throughout the US. As an internationally recognized speaker and workshop leader, Jedlička is regularly tapped to speak on eco-packaging and print design, as well as broader sustainable design and business issues.
Working to change minds in higher education, since the program’s inception Jedlička is a founding program development team member and faculty for Minneapolis College of Art and Design's ground-breaking Sustainable Design Program. As part of education efforts in industry, Jedlička serves on the committees for sustainability and education for the Institute of Packaging Professionals, the American Institute of Graphic Arts, and is part of national sustainability curriculum efforts. As part of Jedlička's professional outreach efforts, she serves as the United States co-coordinator for the o2 International Network for Sustainable Design and is the o2-USA/Upper Midwest chapter chair.
Attracted to packaging since discovering origami in grade school, Jedlička started her formal art training through the Minneapolis Institute of Arts experimental youth art program, continuing through high school at Parsons School of Design and the Art Students League of New York. She completed her bachelor’s degree in graphic and industrial design at the University of Bridgeport, and her master’s degree in international management with a certificate in international marketing at the University of St. Thomas.

If the manufacturer makes it easy to recyle a small “throwaway”, we’ll do it. So now, along with my Netflix envelopes, I can take my old toothbrush to the postoffice. -
