The Living Principles were conceived and created in 2009 by Gaby Brink, Nathalie Destandau, and Phil Hamlett through AIGA and with generous input and inspiration from an inter-disciplinary group of designers, authors, educators, strategists and business leaders.

Gaby Brink
Founder | Creative Director
Tomorrow Partners
Gaby Brink is the founder and creative director of Tomorrow Partners, where she leads an inter-disciplinary team of creative talents to craft communication programs that turn heads and grab hearts everywhere that brands live. She works with a wide spectrum of top global marketers and emerging companies. And because she believes that design plays a vital role in building a brighter future, she regularly applies her creative firepower to nurture environmental and social causes and help organizations with sustainability at their core thrive.
Gaby co-authored The Living Principles for Design, and with her team at Tomorrow, built its online community. Through her leadership on the Board of Directors of AIGA, she fosters dialogue and collaboration amongst professional organizations and the global design community to co-create tools and best practices for design as a catalyst for positive cultural change.

Nathalie Destandau
Partner | Strategist
Tomorrow Partners
Nathalie Destandau is a partner, the lead strategist and resident sustainability buff of Tomorrow Partners, a strategic creative agency headquartered in Berkeley, California. Her engagements run the gamut from ethnographic research to sustainable business strategy, naming, positioning, and development of communication platforms for Tomorrow’s wide range of clients. Nathalie’s 20-year background in academia and an MBA in Sustainable Management from the Presidio Graduate School give her a particular knack for translating complicated propositions into messages that are clear and engaging to everyone.
Nathalie is the co-author of The Living Principles for Design and continues to develop resources and experiential tools to bring the genesis of this new framework to life and into professional practice. She also serves on the board of trustees of Ecole Bilingue de Berkeley, where she leads the French-American school’s diversity initiatives.
